BIG SECOND HALF SETS PATH FOR CHAMPION OVER GIRARD

GIRARD, OH- Girard was looking to rebound Friday night following a tough loss to McDonald on Tuesday but ran into a tough second-half Champion team and fell 67-52.  The Indians started out well holding a 7 point lead going into the second period. In the second period Champion’s Noah Vesey and Nick Zigarovich got hot behind the three-point lead and took a two-point lead at the half.   In the second half, Girard wasn’t able to stop Noah Bayus who scored 29 total points including a three-pointer of his own and Champion outscored Girard 29-13 in the second half.

Girard showed improvement over their last performance.  With a very young team this year, they are looking to get better with every game and tonight they did that.  Senior, Christian Grazziano led the team in scoring with 25 points. As well the Indians had a big contribution from Sophomore Dom Malito and freshman Bobby Aljers.

The Indians’ next game will be on Tuesday at Salem here in YSN.
