On August 20th the volleyball season got started as every team across the state of Ohio had aspirations of being one of the lucky 4 that ends the season with a trophy. 50 days later, and the road to Wright State has become clear. Although there’s still one week left in the regular season, now every team knows what path they’ll have to take to win a State Championship. YSN is the place to be for tournament coverage. Below you’ll find a break down of each of YSN’s teams spot in the district bracket.
Austintown Fitch is the highest seed featured on YSN in Division 1. They were voted the fourth seed by their fellow teams in the district. The Falcons elected to be in the Mentor district. 3rd seeded Glen Oak is the highest seed in the bracket. The Owls are 17-2 on the season and are led by senior standout Natalie Stepanovich. Stepanovich is headed to Robert Morris to continue her volleyball career as a D1 athlete. She currently has 195 kills on the season. Fitch opens their run on October 19th at home against 32 seeded Cleveland Heights.
Boardman was voted the 21 seed in the bracket poll. The Spartans have upset teams in the past as a lower seed so coach Birch shouldn’t have any trouble getting her team ready for the moment. Boardman gets a first round bye as they’ll await the winner of Lakeside and Canton McKinley. The top seed in Boardman’s district is the 1 seed Massillon Jackson.
Louisville was given the 29 seed in this years district bracket. They find themselves in the Solon district. They will start their run on October 19th as they travel to 7th seeded Walsh Jesuit. The highest seed in Louisville’s bracket is the 2 seed, Chardon.
