FALCONS FLY TO IMPACT WIN

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The Austintown Fitch Falcons have suffered their fair share of heartbreaks early in the season. With a record of 2-6 going into Tuesday’s contest, Fitch had their eyes to the sky, as their opponent was The GlenOak Golden Eagles.

GlenOak came in 4-2, playing very well coming into Tuesday, with a wealth of height to help with early-season success.

The Falcons came out with a defensive pressure that can only be described as suffocating.

GlenOak tried feeding the post, with 6’8” Brody Gowen being the recipient of a lot of early game passes.

However, Fitch stayed disciplined in bringing the doubles, and clogging the passing lanes, to hold Gowen to minimal effect on the evening.

Fitch was up by as much as 17 points during the course of the game. GlenOak was not going down without a fight, as Ja’Cory Lipkins was bringing the rainstorm inside the confines of Austintown Fitch Highschool, with a barrage of three-pointers to help lead the comeback effort.

Allen Underwood may not have been the biggest guy on the court, but his effort on the night stood taller than anyone! As the senior guard scored 24 points of offense, with most coming off the drive. That effort, paired with the heart Underwood brings each and every game was enough for Fitch to hold on to the 51-50 victory.

Austintown will take their new 3-6 record into The New Year, where the entirety of The AAC awaits them on the schedule.

It all starts when The Canfield Cardinals come to town Tuesday, January 4th in another battle of the birds!
