A FLASHY FINISH FOR KENNEDY

WARREN, OH- The Heartland Christian Lions came down to the Gillen Gymnasium Monday night to try and spoil senior night for the JFK Eagles. However, the Lady Eagles were victorious in the end winning 59-40. A fantastic finish of the regular season.

From start to finish, Heartland always seemed to be one step behind Kennedy. The Lions fouled less than the Eagles in the first half, but that didn’t stop Kennedy from staying ahead in the scoring phase. Sophomore, Faith Hollobaugh drained three shots from being the arch with 9 total points in the half, matching her teammate Caitlyn Condoleon. Also with 9 points in the half on the other side of the ball was Maddie Mathews. At the end of the half, the score was 30-20

After a halftime full of exciting basketball from the little Eagles, the big Eagles came out swinging outscoring the Lions by 8 in the quarter and 17 in total. Hollobaugh was 5 for 5 at the free-throw line and scored 9 points in total in the second half. Condoleon was also 100% from the foul line and scored 11 points in the second half. Heartland tried to make a comeback as best as they could with 16 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough, for Kennedy ended their last regular-season home game with a win 59-40

Leading the Eagles in scoring Monday night was Caitlyn Condoleon was 21 points, followed up by Faith Hollobaugh with 18, both 100% at the free-throw line. Leading the Lions in scoring was Maddie Mathews scoring 19 points, followed up by Sydney Ogden with 13 points who was 5 for 6 at the line. JFK is now 13-7 on the season and next play North on Thursday. Heartland moves to 6-14 and next play Brookfield Wednesday.
