A TOUGH TUESDAY FOR THE TIGERS
WARREN OH- Tough one for Howland on Tuesday, as the Tigers let a late lead slip away and fell to Harding 4-3 in a game that came down to the wire.
Howland had control early, jumping out with a pair in the first—one off a sharp single and another thanks to a Harding miscue. Fronzaglio kept the momentum rolling in the second with an RBI double to make it 3-2.
But Harding didn’t go away. After tying things up in the first with a gutsy steal of home and a double, they came through in the clutch again in the fifth. Down a run, Jacob Borsic laced a two-run single to give the Raiders the lead for good.
Howland outhit Harding 10-8, but couldn’t cash in enough when it mattered. Fronzaglio and Brayden Kovarik both had three hits on the day, and Kovarik also swiped two bags. Santee and Richie Ansel chipped in RBIs as well.
Steven Bubon got the start for the Tigers, going five innings with seven punchouts. He gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits. Hart matched him on the bump for Harding, also going five and fanning seven while working around eight hits and a few walks.
Harding got solid production at the plate with three players picking up two hits each, and their defense turned a key double play to help close the door. Howland will try to bounce back Wednesday when they take on Austintown-Fitch.
