A2Z COMEBACK COMES JUST SHORT AGAINST WHITING

STRUTHERS, OH- The Whiting Roll Offs built a five-run lead in the second inning and then held off A2Z’s charge for a 7-6 victory on Saturday. The Athletics scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Tyler Canfield in the third, a single by Parker Dobson in the sixth, a single by Aiden Thompson in the sixth, and a groundout by Chris Denney in the sixth.

An early lead helped propel Whiting to victory. The Roll Off’s scored on a double by Corbin Sevcik, a single by Nate Thomas, and a single by Nick Thomas in the first inning.

A2Z scored three runs in the sixth inning. DobsonThompson, and Denney each had RBIs in the big inning.

Joey Pugh was credited with the victory for Whiting. He allowed five hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. Grayson Hooks threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Hooks recorded the last two outs to earn the save for the Roll Off’s.

Adams was also on the pitcher’s mound for A2Z. He allowed five hits and five runs over one-third of an inning, walking one. Matt Paparodis threw four and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Owen Keister started the game for Whiting. He surrendered three runs on two hits over two innings, striking out two

The Roll Offs had eight hits in the game. Sevcik and Thomas each managed multiple hits for the Roll-Offs. Thomas and Sevcik each collected two hits to lead Whiting.

A2Z saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Canfield and Dobson each racked up multiple hits for the Black and Gold.
