AFC TEAMS WITH THE MOST SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Super Bowl is the annual football game that determines the champion of the NFL. The two conferences have teams that will play off throughout the NFL, and both conferences have plenty of frequent winners and skilled teams. However, out of the AFC (American Football Conference) there are a few teams who really stand out. Besides, when looking at AFC and NFC teams for betting, you want to make the right Super Bowl picks.

Who are the AFC?

The AFC is one of the two conferences in the NFL. The AFC currently contains 16 teams organized into 4 divisions, as does its counterpart, the NFC. Both of these conferences were created as part of the 1970 merger between the NFL and AFL.

Back in the merger all ten of the then AFL teams, and three NFL teams became part of the AFC, since then three new teams have joined, expanding the conference to the current 16 teams.

What teams are in the AFC?

There are four divisions in the AFC, each containing four teams. They are as follows;

East division.

  • Buffalo Bills.
  • Miami Dolphins.
  • New England Patriots.
  • New York Jets.

North Division.

  • Baltimore Ravens.
  • Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Cleveland Browns.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers.

South Division.

  • Houston Texans.
  • Indianapolis Colts.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • Tennessee Titans.

West Division

  • Denver Broncos.
  • Kansas City Chiefs.
  • Las Vegas Raiders.
  • Los Angeles Chargers.

Which team has the most Super Bowl championships

The Super Bowl is the pinnacle ending of each football season, declaring the winner of the NFL season. Both the NFC and the AFC have their chance at a win. However, the NFC leads the amount of Super Bowl wins at 27 won Super Bowls, with the AFC just trailing behind with 25 Super Bowl wins.

The AFC is slowly catching up and with the New England Patriots raking in the wins of late, it could soon even out. But, the big question we have to ask is which of the 16 AFC teams in the NFL have won the most Super Bowls?

Of the 16 teams in the AFC, 9 have won a Super Bowl, and 8 hold multiple titles. While the NFC have 11 teams who have won Super Bowls, only 6 of their teams hold multiple titles, so even though the NFC have more winning teams, they do not have as many teams who are as good to hold multiple titles!

The AFC also has the two teams with the most Super Bowl titles; the New England Patriots and The Pittsburgh Steelers, both with 6 titles each.

The New England Patriots.

The New England Patriots are an astounding team, they have six Super Bowl championships; 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, and 2018. They are also not low down on other championship titles either, though. They have 11 AFC championships; 1985, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018. As well as 22 division championships as well. They have appeared in 27 playoffs overall as well.

They also hold many other records as well, including the most playoff wins, the longest winning streak of regular-season and playoff games from October 2003- October 2004. They also have the most consecutive winning seasons, holding 19 from 2001 to 2019, and the only undefeated 16-game regular season. They also have the highest postseason winning percentage as well.

Their biggest privates are the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and the Baltimore Ravens. As for the current 2021 season, the Patriots are already showing their rivals what’s up, they faced the Jets on Sunday 19th September and absolutely slaughtered them 25-6. However, on the 12th September, they faced another of their rivals, the Dolphins, who just scraped a win against the Patriots 17-16. That’s got to burn!

Keep an eye out for them facing their other rivals, the Buffalo Bills, on the 26th December, and they will be facing the Dolphins again on the 9th January 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are just as great, having won 6 Super Bowls as well; 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 2005, and 2008. They also have 8 AFC championships, and 24 division championships too! They have also appeared in 32 NFL playoffs as well. So, while they don’t have quite the reputation that the Patriots do, they are still one hell of a team.

Historically they have been rivals with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys, the Denver Broncos, and the Tennessee Titans. As for the current 2021 season, the Steelers are also showing their rivals what’s up, having slain the Cowboys on the 6th August at 16-3. They have fared well against the Lions, Panthers, Bills, and the Eagles in the season thus far.

Keep an eye out for their upcoming games against their rivals, such as their game against the Broncos on the 10th October, and the Titans on the 19th December, and of course their game against the Raiders on the 3rd October as well!
