ARMENI HOMERS, IRISH BLEMISH TIGER RECORD

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH- The Ursuline Irish have figured things out.  They have clicked.  However you want to describe it, they are playing some top-tier baseball at the moment.  After starting off the season 0-4, the Irish are heating up with the temperatures.

On Wednesday night, they became the “one” in a 9-1 Springfield Tigers win-loss record.

It was Ursuline’s Jeremy Kreuzweiser that took advantage on a Tiger error in the top of the sixth inning to give the Irish an 8-7 lead, and eventually the win over Springfield.

Springfield was playing catch up virtually the entire game as the Irish started things off with four runs in the top of the first when Colin Balas scored on a passed ball, followed by a Dante Walker RBI single, and Andrew Sabella’s double that drove in a pair.  Springfield would fire back in the bottom of the frame with a 3-run inning that was keyed when Clayton Nesbeth scored on a balk call against Glenn Griswold.

The Irish would keep swinging the hot bats in the top of the second when Vince Armeni went yard for the Irish.  The blast over the centerfield fence drove in three and made the game 7-3, Irish.

Glenn Griswold would pick up the victory for the Green and Gold, going five innings and allowing 7 runs on five hits, striking out three.  Joel Kreuzweiser made a relief appearance striking out a pair.

The Ursuline win improves their record to 3-6, while Springfield drops their first game of the season and sit at 9-1.
