ASTRO FALCONS FLY PAST EAGLEWEAR IN BATTLE OF THE BIRDS

STRUTHERS, OH- Even though the Astro Falcons gave up three runs in the first inning, they still defeated Eaglewear 14u 15-5 on Saturday. Rocco DiflorioMason Nawrocki, and Nick Zaid all drove in runs in the frame.

Eaglewear opened up scoring in the first inning. Diflorio drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Astro tied things up at five when Anthony Triveri singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

The Falcons pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Youngstown Class B Astro Falcons 14u 14U, Luke Kollar singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, and Jacob Hayes grounded out, scoring one run.

Anthony Groner earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the blue and orange. The lefthander lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one.

Kollar started the game for Astro. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out four

It was a fight getting to the batrack with the Astro Falcons serving up 15 hits. Chandler MauriceTriveriHayesKollarLandon Whippo, and Dominic Cubellis each had multiple hits for Astro. CubellisWhippoKollarHayesTriveri, and Maurice each collected two hits to lead the team.  The Astros also stole 13 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Whippo led the way with four.

Mason Nawrocki led Eaglewear 14u with two hits in three at-bats.
