BEACH PARTY; LATE SURGE PROPELS RANGE OVER CHERAW

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range knocked in nine runs in the sixth on its way to a 14-4 victory over Cheraw on Wednesday. Keira Brogan, Jamie Feren, Kelly Szolek, Juli Stachowicz, Madison Dado, and Giada Pauline all drove in runs in the frame.

Cheraw fired up the offense in the first inning, when Steen was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

The Raiders knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. An error scored one run for South Range Varsity Raiders.

After South Range scored one run in the top of the fifth, Cheraw answered with one of their own. South Range scored when Dado singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Cheraw then answered when Hunt drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Raiders pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brogan doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

South Range tallied nine runs in the sixth inning. Brogan, Feren, Szolek, Stachowicz, Dado, and Pauline all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Stachowicz led the South Range to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The lefthander went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out 12. Jayli Wilt threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Steen took the loss for Cheraw. The pitcher allowed nine hits and 14 runs over seven innings, striking out 11.

South Range had nine hits in the game. Szolek, Dado, and Samantha Susany each managed multiple hits for South Range Varsity Raiders. Susany, Dado, and Szolek all had two hits to lead the Raiders.

The Raiders will be back at it in Myrtle Beach at 10am as they take on High Point.
