BEAVERS DON’T BACK DOWN TO EDISON

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- The Beavers won their third straight game, getting over .500 for the first time this season with a 27-21 win over the Edison Wildcats

Edison started the game on the right foot, forcing a turnover on the first play of the game. The Beaver defense stood strong on a 4th and 4 the ensuing Edison drive though, and capitalized with a 30 yard TD pass from Austin Cline to Dorian Jackson. Defense took over for the remainder of the first, as Edison struck first in the second with a Mason Eisenaugle TD run. Beaver Local answered with a 21 yard TD pass from Cline to Logan Blissenbach. Late in the second, Beaver Local looked to be heading into the locker room with a 7 point lead, but Jacob Cusik came up with a big INT and returned it to the Beavers 10 yard line. Gage Cline would run it in two plays later from 8 out, and we had a tie ballgame at the half.

Edison got the ball out of half, but it amounted to nothing, as they went three and out. Beaver Local would then score the next 2 TDS of the game, courtesy of Austin Cline and Joe Monte on the ground. The score would be 27-14 in the 4th, but Edison was far from done. Halfway through the 4th quarter, Edison would score on a 55 yard TD drive capped off by a Jacob Cusik TD catch. Edison them came up with a big 4th down stop in Wildcat territory with 1:45 left. They had life. After picking up 3 first down, the Wildcats went for the big one downfield, but Beaver Local made them pay in the form of a Joe Monte game sealing INT to give the Beavers their third straight victory of the season.

They will travel to Oak Glen next week for a Thursday night matchup against the Golden Bears.
