BEAVERS FALL IN OPENER AGAINST INDIAN CREEK
EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- Beaver Local watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-1 loss to Indian Creek on Monday. Indian Creek took the lead on a wild pitch in the first inning, and never looked back. The Beavers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Indian Creek, giving up 14 runs in 5 innings.
Indian Creek opened up scoring in the first inning. Jordan Mick threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Indian Creek. Indian Creek scored six runs in the fourth inning. Tyler Smarrella, Coy Amis, Richie Gualtiere, and Josh Maurer all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Amis pitched Indian Creek to victory. He surrendered one run on zero hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Mick took the loss for Beaver Local. He surrendered eight runs on eight hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
Indian Creek collected 11 hits. Smarrella, Klay Cottis, Maurer, and Amis each racked up multiple hits for Indian Creek.
