BEAVERS WIN FIRST BUCKEYE 8 TITLE

Beaver Local made school history on Friday night, defeating the Indian Creek Redskins by a final score of 41-7, capturing their first Buckeye 8 Championship in school history.

The Skins got the ball to start things off, and they took it right down the field on Beaver Local, going 65 yards for the score. The Beavers responded though, turning to junior Caleb White for a 50 yard TD bomb to tie things up. The Beaver defense put the clamps on to get their offense the ball back, where Austin Cline ran in his second total TD of the game from 11 yards out. On the next Beaver offensive possession, they turned to the reliable Logan Blissenbach for a 40 yard TD pass, making it 21-7 through a quarter and a half.

The Beaver offense found the end zone one more time, courtesy of Austin Cline on the ground again, and went into the half up 27-7 with the Buckeye 8 title in their sights. They got the ball out of the halftime period, and didn’t slow anything down. Cline found Caden Foster for a 63 yard bomb to make it 34-7, putting the game out of reach for the Skins. They turned to Micah Jones to run it in from 4 yards out to put the finishing touches on the victory, capping off a 41-7 win on a night that the Beavers will not soon forget.

The Beavers still have some work to do to earn a playoff berth, as they look to add to the 6 game win streak next week, hosting Martins Ferry on Senior night at Pastore Field.
