BENSON WALKS OFF LOUISVILLE INTO NEXT ROUND

Louisville Varsity took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off home run at the end of the game to topple Solon on Monday in the sectional semifinals. Louisville trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Matti Benson homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Solon scored three runs in the first inning, but Louisville still managed to pull out the victory. Solon big bats were led by Alexis Earle and Kaylinn Samuelraj, all driving in runs in the frame.

In the first inning, the Comets got their offense started when an error scored one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Leopards tied things up at three when Kenzi Denzer hit a solo homer.

Louisville tallied three runs in the third inning. Addy Campbell, Shelby Mayle, and Denzer each had RBIs in the big inning.

Anna Sirohman pitched Louisville to victory. The pitcher surrendered four runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking one.

Samuelraj was in the circle for the Comets. The righthander allowed 11 hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one.

Louisville tallied two home runs on the day. Denzer went for the long ball in the third inning. Benson went deep in the seventh inning.

The Leopards racked up 11 hits in the game. Benson, Sirohman, and Denzer all managed multiple hits. Denzer, Sirohman, and Benson all had two hits to lead.

Solon racked up eight hits. Ali Palsa and Becca Hurst each managed multiple hits. Palsa went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Solon didn’t commit a single error in the field. Earle had the most chances in the field with six.
