BIG MEN ON CAMPUS; CARDS FLEX IN KENT

KENT, OH- The Canfield Cardinals snatched the lead late in the game in a 12-2 victory over  Erie Cathedral Prep on Friday. The game was tied at two with Canfield batting in the bottom of the fourth when Josh Juliano drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Cardinals secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Ben Slanker, Landon Beidelschies, and Michael Patellis, Juliano, and a sac fly by Nate Shaw.

In the top of the third inning, Ramblers tied things up at two. An error scored one run for the Ramblers.

Shaw got the win on the bump for Canfield. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out eight. Connor Miller threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Malec took the loss for Ramblers. The pitcher surrendered two runs on four hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Canfield saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Patellis, Shaw, Slanker, and Juliano each racked up multiple hits for the Cardinals. Shaw and Patellis each collected three hits to lead the team.

The Cards now fly south for spring break and will take their talents to Myrtle Beach to take on some stiff competition at the Ripken Experience.  YSN’s Dom Files will have the call down from the Grand Strand for each game.
