Springfield watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-1 loss to McDonald on Tuesday. McDonald scored on a error in the first inning, a single in the first inning, a home run by Bri Callow in the first inning, and a single in the second inning.

Springfield struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing McDonald, giving up eight runs.

McDonald got things moving in the first inning. An error scored two runs for McDonald.

Callow took the win for McDonald. The bulldog went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out 17 and walking zero.

Madi Lesnak took the loss for Springfield. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out four.

The Tigers tallied one home run on the day. Lesnak had a dinger in the seventh inning.

Abby Joseph, Emily Gerthung, Lesnak, and Gianna Piccuta all had one hit to lead Springfield.

McDonald racked up nine hits, Lucia Wolford was on of four hitters who managed multiple hits, she homered in the 6th.
