BLUE JAYS COMPLETE BIG TIME MVAC SWEEP

NORTH JACKSON OH- The Lady Jays took on their fourth double header of the season, this time against Mineral Ridge. The Lady Jays scored first when Grace Johns hit a single scoring Emily Fultz. The team scored another run in the second when Camelia Blackmon singled and Chelsea Williams scored her on a triple. Four more runs were scored in the third inning with singles by Riley Headley, Grace Johns, Macayle Thornhill, Paige Grope and Maggie Simkins. The Lady Jays weren’t done and scored three runs in the fifth inning with hits by Camelia, Chelsea, Riley and Grace. Defense was also strong as the Lady Jays didn’t commit a single error in the first game.

The Lady Jays tallied a total of 15 hits with Grace Johns leading the way going 4-4 with three singles and a double. The Lady Jays earned the win 9-1.

Macayle Thornhill threw for five innings giving up four hits, walking one and striking out three.

 

The second game was even colder than the first but the Lady Jays didn’t let that stop them. They continued their work at the plate scoring four runs in the first inning. With two outs, Riley Headley and Grace Johns were both walked and Emily Fultz, Macayle Thornhill and Paige Grope followed that up with singles. The Rams answered with six runs of their own. The Lady Jays refused to quit and totaled six hits in the bottom of the second while batting through the order. Chelsea Williams started the inning with a shot to center field earning herself a triple. Macayle Thornhill, Paige Grope, Mia Greco, and Kylie Wilson each had a hit while Chelsea earned herself another hit in the second. The Rams continued to chip away and scored two more in the third inning making the score 12-9. The Lady Jays batted through their order for the third time this game as Emily, Macayle, Paige, Mia, Chelsea and Kylie each earned singles. The Rams kept it exciting as they scored four more in the top of the fifth but a ground out back to Macayle Thornhill ended the game giving the Lady Jays the win 16-14.

Chelsea Williams lead this game going 3-4 with a triple and two singles. Another 15 hits were recorded for the second game giving the Lady Jays a total of 30 hits on the night.

Riley Headley was in the circle for two innings giving up four hits, walking one and stirking out two. Macayle Thornhill came in to finish the game giving up seven hits and walking one.

The Lady Jays are now 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the leauge. Their next stop is Waterloo on Thursday April 28th at 5:00. They will then host Waterloo on Friday April 29th at 5:00 for Senior Night.
