BOARDMAN BRINGS HOME STATE TITLE

ASHTABULA OH- Winner takes all! The way that all championships should be. In the Little League softball state championship Clay and Boardman met up on Tuesday night to decide who would be making the trip to regionals in Indiana. This was the second meeting between the two, Clay took the first matchup to put Boardman in the loser’s bracket. This time around it was Boardman that took the win 14-2.

Boardman set the tone with a 4 run first inning. Addie Volosin continued her impressive state tournament with a bases clearing 3 RBI double.  Clay would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Scoring would then halt until the top of the 5th where Boardman exploded with 10 runs.

Taylor Watts smacked 3 hits in the game to lead the offense. Volosin and Emily Swantek each managed multiple hits as well.  Addy Rudge, Emma Davies, Lilly Sardich, Mia Duble, and Addie Fiddler all added hits as well.

Emma Davies went all 5 innings and struck out 5 batters. She gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, and walked zero.

This is Boardman’s first Little League State Championship since 1976. They advance to the central regional tournament in Withestown Indiana on July 25th.
