BOARDMAN BRINGS IT ON THE ROAD

BELOIT OH- Boardman went on the road and earned a non-conference win vs a tough West Branch team. After jumping out to a quick 9-2 start, both teams went back and forth in the first half, with the Spartans leading by 7 at halftime, 24-17. Boardman sprinted out of the gate in the 3rd quarter with a 10-0 run, winning the quarter 19-5, to go ahead 43-22 heading into the 4th.

Ethan Andersen led a balanced scoring attack for the Spartans with 13 points to go with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Trey DePietro had a really good all around floor game, he was also in double figures with 12 points, while also grabbing 6 rebounds, blocking 5 shots and getting 3 steals. Luke Ryan once again came in and provided Boardman with nice scoring, putting in 9 points to go with 2 steals. D.J. Evans played a strong all around game with 8 points and 3 steals. Seth Cervello continued to shoot the ball well with two 3’s to go with tough defense.

Spencer Smith buried the first shot of the game for 3 points, helping the Spartans jump out ahead early. Anthony Hightower and Ty Ventresco both played important minutes, each scoring a basket for two points. Ben Alvarico and Marco Stilliana rounded out the rotation and team effort.

Dru Deshields and Jaxon Hendershot both led West Branch with 8 points a piece.

The Spartan win ends a five game winning streak by the Warriors who are now 10-4 and will return to action Tuesday traveling to Marlington.

Boardman is now 9-3 (3-0) on the season. The Spartans continue their road trip next Tuesday, as they travel to Warren for a very important conference game at Harding.
