BOARDMAN BULLIES PAST WARRIORS

CANFIELD, OH – Despite allowing three runs in the third inning, the Boardman Spartans defeated Edgewood 11-3 on Saturday. Heather Farr, Julianna Sloan, and Sarah Drake all drove in runs in the frame for Edgewood. Boardman secured the victory thanks to six runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by the Spartans was led by Madison Lester, Cassidy Bryan, Madison Wymer, and Jenna Madick, who all drove in runs. Boardman got things moving in the first inning. Lester grounded out, scoring one run. Boardman tallied six runs in the third inning. Lester, Bryan, Wymer, and Madick each had RBIs in the frame.

Lester pitched Boardman to a victory. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out nine. Bella Varkett took the loss for Edgewood. She surrendered four runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out one and walking zero. Ezzone started the game for Edgewood. The pitcher went three innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking zero.

Boardman collected 14 hits. Jenna Olexa, Lester, Sofia Hoffman, Katryn O’Horo, and Wymer all managed multiple hits for the Spartans. Wymer, O’Horo, Hoffman, Lester, and Olexa each managed two hits to lead Boardman. Dana Haus led the Spartans with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases. Sloan led Edgewood with two hits in four at bats.
