BOARDMAN BUSTS OUT BATS AGAINST RANGE
BOARDMAN, OH- Boardman had the bats buzzing Thursday night, and Grayson Eicher lit the fuse.
Eicher drove in five runs on three knocks to lead the Spartans past South Range, 10-1. He opened the scoring in the first with an RBI double, added a two-run single in the fifth, then busted things wide open in the sixth with a bases-clearing triple.
Boardman wasted no time grabbing control, plating two in the first and never looking back. Landon Whippo chipped in with a sacrifice RBI, while Tommy Varley stayed hot at the plate with a 2-for-3 showing.
On the bump, Mason Nawrocki got the job done. He tossed five innings, giving up just one run on four hits while fanning four. Tyler Kirlik and Ryan Neifer came out of the pen to slam the door shut.
South Range’s lone spark came from Dylan Smesko, who drove in their only run, and Tommy Titus, who went 2-for-3 hitting out of the eight-hole. The Raiders couldn’t get much going against Boardman’s pitching duo.
Boardman is back in action Monday at home with a big one against Canfield to help decide the AAC.
