BOMBERS HUSHED BY LOUDONVILLE
WINDHAM, OH- The Bombers couldn’t match the pace as the Loudonville Redbirds soared to a 12-2 victory on Thursday.
Right off the bat, Loudonville took command in the first inning, thanks to Judah Layton’s two-RBI single, a single from Baylor Weiser that brought another runner home, and a wild pitch that notched yet another run. The Redbirds kept the pressure high, tacking on five more in the second without a hit—capitalizing on walks, a hit by pitch, and an error.
The scoring continued in the third with Layton and Weiser again delivering RBI singles, padding their lead to 12-2. Matt Sprang was stellar on the mound for the Redbirds, tossing five innings of two-hit ball, allowing no earned runs while striking out nine. Gavin Kiser, pitching in relief for the Bombers, struggled to contain the Redbirds’ lineup, surrendering two runs over his two innings of work.
At the plate, Weiser was the standout performer for Loudonville, knocking in three runs on a perfect 2-for-2 day. Layton and Sprang each added two hits to support their team’s robust offense. Caden Donaldson drew a couple of walks, helping his team maintain its offensive momentum.
For the Bombers, Jack Eye and Anthony Paolella tried to ignite a spark, each snagging a hit. Eye also drove in a run. Despite their efforts, the Bombers couldn’t rally back.
Loudonville’s aggressive base running paid off with four steals, and their defense turned a critical double play, mirroring their all-around solid game. With this win under their belts, the Redbirds continue to show they’re a force on the field.
