POLAND OH- Good Friday didn’t start too well for Poland as they welcomed in Sharpsville in from across the border In Pennsylvania.  The Blue Devils jumped on Poland early.  A four run first inning put the Bulldogs behind the right ball quickly.  It wasn’t until the bottom of the 5th that Poland was able to get on the board and get some positive vibes.

In her second bay of the game, and just third at bay of her career, freshman Lilli McDonald hit a her first career base hit, and it came with her first career RBI.  The Bulldogs would add another on a wild pitch to get within 5-2.  After the Blue Devils responded with two runs in the 6th, the Bulldogs had their work cut out for them in the bottom of the 7th down 7-2.  Leanne Williams led off the inning with a single, followed by a walk drawn by Meredith Trevis to put the first two hitters on.  then with one out Kylie Hudran, and Avery Jakubovic both singled to bring in a run.  They were followed by Elliana Thompson who singled in another to make it 7-5.  The Bulldogs then got down to their last out, enter Mary Brant.  The junior went up to the plate, found the pitch she wanted and gave it a ride. The three run bomb walked it off for Poland and capped off a 5 run bottom of the 7th.

Brant finished the game 3-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Williams also had multiple hits for the Bulldogs going 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Trevis scored twice going 1-3 with a walk.  Jakubovic finished with 2 RBI from the bottom of the order, and set the table for the exciting finish.

Poland will get right back to it about 16 hours after the dramatic win when they play Boardman Saturday at 11:00. They’ll also play Brookfield at 3:00.  Both games are taking place at Poland with a game between Boardman and Brookfield in between.
