BRANT BRINGS HERSELF HOME TWICE AS POLAND POWERS THEIR WAY TO TITLE GAME

CANFIELD OH – The Poland Seminary Lady Bulldogs improved to 16-8 on the season with a win over the Brookfield Lady Warriors by a score of 10-3.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped off to a strong start plating 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st, adding on 2 runs in the bottom of the third and 4 more in the bottom of the 6th.  Poland’s offense was led by Mary Brant who blasted 2 home runs for 5 RBI’s and Meridith Trevis adding  a two run homer in the bottom of the third.
Freshman third baseman Elliana Thompson had 3 hits, all doubles, as well as Freshman catcher Leanna Boccieri who had 3 hits, all singles.  Junior 1st Baseman Leanne Williams added 3 hits including a double.  The Lady Bulldogs collectively had 16 hits off of senior Brookfield hurler Miranda Nicholson.
Katie McDonald picked up her 16th win in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs.
For Brookfield, Katie Logan blasted a solo homerun in the 3rd inning while Cadence Huffman and Abby DeJoy each added 2 hits apiece.  Sophia Hook also added a triple.

Poland Seminary resumes tournament play in the District Final against South Range on Thursday at 5pm.
