BROOKFIELD NOTCHES A COMEBACK VICTORY

BROOKFIELD OH- Brookfield nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Howland on Saturday. Brookfield was down 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Abby DeJoy homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Howland got things moving in the first inning, when Zoe King hit a solo homer.

The Warriors knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. Katie Gibson drove in one when Gibson singled.

Miranda Nicholson was credited with the victory for Brookfield. The fireballer surrendered three runs on 12 hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Brooke Tatar took the loss for Howland. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and six runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

The Warriors smacked one home run on the day. DeJoy had a dinger in the fifth inning.

Brookfield totaled 11 hits. Gibson, Arianna Jones, and DeJoy each racked up multiple hits. DeJoy, Jones, and Gibson all had two hits to lead the way. Brookfield was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Maddie Thomas had the most chances in the field with ten.

The Tigers scattered 12 hits in the game. Kayla Campbell, King, and Tatar each had multiple hits. Howland was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Campbell made the most plays with ten.
