MYRTLE BEACH, SC- The South Range Baseball Team defeated Berea (SC) 5-1 on Thursday, as two pitchers teamed up to throw a no-hitter. Brandon Youngs struck out Brock Ballard to get the last out of the game. The Raiders got things started in the first inning when Jake Gehring drove in one when he doubled. Sam Brooks was the winning pitcher for the Raiders. He lasted six innings, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out four. Brandon Youngs threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Zach O’Malley took the loss for Berea. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out seven.
Offensively, the Raiders racked up nine hits on the day. Gehring and Jared Bajerski all had multiple hits for Raiders. Gehring led Raiders with three hits in three at bats. Zack Fowler led Berea with one run batted in. He went 0-for-1 on the day. Berea didn’t commit a single error in the field. Eli Smith had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
