BULLDOGS NIP NILES IN A CLOSE ONE

Poland stole the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over Niles on Thursday. The game was tied at two with Poland batting in the bottom of the sixth when Cole Corey singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mason Planey struck out seven, while Andrew Huffman sat down three.

The Bulldogs took an early lead in the second inning when Bryce Barringer’s sac fly scored one run.

Niles knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning, when Chase Sudzina grounded out, scoring one run.

Planey took the win for the Bulldogs. Planey lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out seven.

Huffman took the loss for the Dragons. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three.

Corey, Evan Hegarty, Carmen Pagano, Anthony Koulianos, Nate Hayes, and Michael Nittoli each collected one hit to lead Poland.

Zach Macik led Niles with two hits in three at bats.
