BULLDOGS JUMP AHEAD IN THEIR FIRST MATCHUP WITH GIRARD

GIRARD OH- Poland put up six runs in the first on its way to a 9-2 victory over Girard on Thursday. Poland’s big inning was driven by singles by Carmine Tukalo, Chris Denney, and Aiden Thompson, walks by Ryan Dilullo and Dominic Elia, and a fielder’s choice by Jacob Hayes.

The Bulldogs got things moving in the first inning. Tukalo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Matt Paparodis got the win for Poland. The righthander surrendered zero runs on four hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Mike Gushura threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Nate Freeland took the loss for Girard. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Denney led Poland with three hits in four at bats. Poland didn’t commit a single error in the field. Denney had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
