BULLDOGS POUNCE ON HEARTLAND EARLY IN EP
NEW WATERFORD, OH- An early lead helped East Palestine defeat Heartland Christian 16-3 on Wednesday. East Palestine scored on an error, a walk by Cameron Wischerman, and a single by Justin Hooley in the first inning.
The Bulldogs scored six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Hooley, Cooper Vance, and Jordon Fristik, walks by Daniel Bender and Brady Kridler, and an error on a ball put in play by Wischerman.
Brandon Turcola pitched EP to victory. He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one.
Graft took the loss for Heartland Christian. He surrendered nine runs on eight hits over two and a third innings, striking out three.
East Palestine collected 15 hits on the day. Fristik, Sean Helpy, Brock Cheurco, Hooley, Dalton Vance, and Vance each had multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Fristik went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead East Palestine in hits. EP also stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Cheurco led the way with three.
