CANFIELD CLOSES OUT TRIP IN STYLE
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Canfield wrapped up its spring break trip in style, steamrolling Bamberg-Ehrhardt (SC) 13-0 in five innings Thursday to finish a perfect 5-0 on the week at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.
The Cards came out firing and never let up, plating three in the first, two more in the second, and blowing things wide open with a seven-run third.
Sydney Lutz was the tone-setter at the plate, driving in four runs on a pair of singles, including a big knock in the third that helped break the game open. Jenna Triveri and Caylee Ortiz each tallied a single and a double, while Sofia Castronova stayed hot with two more base hits. Marina Koenig brought the pop, lacing a triple to deep center and knocking in two runs.
While the offense stole the show, Canfield’s arms locked it down.
Cam Hrina got the ball and was sharp from the first pitch. The righty tossed four scoreless innings, scattering a few hits and working efficiently to keep Bamberg off the scoreboard. Adalee Crowgey came in for a clean fifth to seal the deal and finish off the combined four-hit shutout.
Canfield’s defense was flawless behind the pitchers—zero errors on the day—and the lineup stayed aggressive, racking up 12 hits total.
With the win, Canfield improves to 13-1 and returns home with a ton of momentum. The Cards will be back in action Monday, April 28, hosting Howland at 5:00 PM.
