CANFIELD COMES BACK IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD
CANFIELD OH- Canfield pulled off a thrilling comeback in front of their home crowd on Friday night in Week 7, rallying from a 14-3 deficit to take down Louisville 23-16.
Canfield struck first in the 1st quarter with Ethan Rittenour nailing a 35-yard field goal to go up 3-0. In the 2nd quarter, Louisville swung the momentum as Jacob Paumier blocked a Canfield field goal attempt and took it 60 yards for a touchdown, putting the Leopards on top 7-3 at halftime. Louisville kept the pressure on in the 3rd quarter with Tate Aljancic finding Quinn Burick for a 21-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-3. Canfield answered back late in the quarter when Enzo Cocca broke free for a 41-yard touchdown run, closing the gap to 14-9 after a missed PAT.
The 4th quarter opened with a bang as Adam Christy scooped up a fumble and took it 37 yards to the end zone, giving Canfield the lead. Cocca added a crucial 2-point conversion to make it 17-14. With 6 seconds left, Canfield strategically took a safety on 4th down, bringing the score to 17-16. On the ensuing free kick, Carson Cutrer sealed the game in dramatic fashion, intercepting a lateral and returning it for a touchdown as time expired, locking in Canfield’s 23-16 win.
