HUBBARD OH- Sydney Lutz was on fire, smashing two home runs and racking up five RBIs to lead Canfield past Kenston 11-1 on Tuesday. Lutz sent balls over the fence in both the second and third innings, putting on a real power show.

Malena Toth was just as impressive in the circle, striking out 13 batters and surrendering just one run on three hits across six innings, showing control and power with every pitch.

The Canfield crew got rolling early, with Lutz’s first homer in the second inning driving in two. Sami Economous added to the tally with an RBI groundout. Lutz wasn’t done though; she blasted a three-run homer the next inning to further pad the lead.

Canfield was swinging hot bats all game, tallying 12 hits. Leah Figueroa led the charge going 3-for-4, while Caylee Ortiz added a couple of hits herself. Discipline at the plate was key, as they drew six walks, with Jenna Triveri and Lutz each taking a pair.

Defensively, Canfield was flawless, not making a single error, and Figueroa was a standout, involved in 13 plays.

Now, Canfield is set to face Marlington for the district title. They’re meeting up at Hubbard this Thursday at 5:00 PM. It’s shaping up to be a showdown not to miss.
