CANFIELD MAKES THE TRIP WORTH IT

CANFIELD OH- The Canfield Cardinals took their longest trip of the regular season down to New Philadelphia to take on the Quakers in week 4. The Cardinals defense was stellar, and the offense clicked with great field position.

The Cardinals defense forced a quick 3 and out on the first Quaker possession of the game, but the Quakers defense answered with a goal line stop to turn the Cardinals over on downs. New Philadelphia had another 3 and out, and the Cardinals took advantage with a 34 yard touchdown reception for Paolo Papalia to make it 7-0. Two possessions later, Oliver Kovass caught a 19 yard touchdown pass on 4th down and long. Toby Smith got in on the touchdown mix as he caught a 20 yard touchdown pass before the half. Canfield entered the locker room at half, up 21-0.

The Cardinals got the football to start the second half, and started right where they left off. The Cardinals stomped 80 yards down the field and capped it off with a Mike Crawford touchdown run. On the following possession for the Quakers, Ryan Schneider had a pick six to make it 35-0.

The Canfield defense would complete the shutout, while forcing 4 turnovers and not allowing New Philadelphia to cross midfield.

Canfield would beat the Quakers 35-0, improving to 3-1 on the season. The Quakers are now 2-2, and will travel to Canton Central Catholic next week. As for Canfield, they return home to take on the Chaney Cowboys. We will have the call on YSN.
