CANFIELD TAKES BATTLE OF THE BIRDS

CANFIELD OH-Nate Shaw would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Tuesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Canfield past Cardinal Mooney 18-3 on Tuesday. Shaw drove in runs on a home run in the second and a double in the third.

Cardinal Mooney scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Canfield still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Mooney came thanks to a walk by Cole Litman and a single by Jordan Sheehan.

In the first inning, Canfield got their offense started when AJ Havrilla singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Shaw earned the win for Canfield. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Connor Miller and Jack Davis entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Ethan Shaw toed the rubber for Cardinal Mooney. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing five hits and ten runs. Mickey Valesquez and Zach Hyrb entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

Canfield socked one home run on the day. Shaw had a homer in the second inning.

Canfield tallied 14 hits on the day. Shaw, Landon Beidelchies, Josh Juliano, Havrilla, and Brock Lowry all collected multiple hits. Lowry, Havrilla, Juliano, Beidelchies, and Shaw each collected two hits to lead.
