CANFIELD USES ANOTHER SHUTOUT TO GET SWEEP OF SPARTANS

BOARDMAN OH- Malena Toth didn’t allow a single run as Canfield defeated Boardman 5-0 on Monday. Toth allowed just three hits to the Spartans offense.

In the first inning, Canfield got their offense started when an error scored one run.

One bright spot for Boardman was a single by Natalie Davis in the first inning. Alex Ward, and Maddie Wymer also were able to collect hits.

Toth was in the pitcher’s circle for the Cardinals. The righty allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one.

Davis was on the rubber for the Spartans. Davis went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. Gabi Sferra threw one inning in relief.

Faith Morell led Canfield with two hits in three at bats. The Cardinals didn’t commit a single error in the field. Leah Figueroa had the most chances in the field with 13.
