CANTON SOUTH STUNS WARRIORS

Canton South took the lead late and defeated West Branch 3-1 on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Canton South batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Canton South pitchers struck out four, while David Cunningham sat down nine.

West Branch opened up scoring in the second inning. They scored one run on a stolen base.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Wildcats tied things up at one. An error scored one run.

Nick Stauffer earned the win for Canton South. The righthander went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out three. Nathan Cordes threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Cordes recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Cunningham took the loss for Warriors. Cunningham lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one.

Alex Moore, Aiden Leahy, Brendan Williams, and Jack Snyder each collected one hit to lead.
