CARDINALS BLANK WHETSTONE IN MYRTLE OPENER

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Jameson Beck shut down Whetstone, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Canfield to a 12-0 victory on Monday night.

Ben Slanker led the Cards to victory by driving in four runs. Slanker went 3-for-4 at the plate. Slanker drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, and a triple in the fourth.

Canfield notched six runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by the Cards was led by Slanker, Zain Jadallah, Stephen Maszczak, Tanner Stricko, and AJ Havrilla, who each had RBIs in the inning.

A single by Ethan Alder in the second inning was a positive for Whetstone.

Beck got the win for Canfield. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out eight.

Drew Burelson took the loss for Whetstone. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out one.

Slanker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Canfield in hits. The Cards stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Stricko led the way with two.
