CARDINALS CONTINUE IMPRESSIVE STREAK

CANFIELD, OH — The Canfield Cardinals girls basketball team remained unbeaten, securing a narrow 47-44 victory over the Howland Tigers in a hard-fought All-American Conference (AAC) showdown on Saturday night.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, ending the first quarter up 15-9. Canfield battled back in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to just two points by halftime, trailing 24-22.

The Cardinals turned the tide in the third quarter, outscoring Howland 14-6 to take a 36-30 lead into the final period. Despite a determined fourth-quarter push by the Tigers, Canfield held on for the win, improving to 14-0 overall and 3-0 in the AAC.
Canfield was led by standout performances from Jenna Triveri and Carly Fleming, each scoring 15 points, while Ceci Muckleroy added 9 points to the Cardinals’ effort.

For Howland, Rylie Villwock paced the Tigers with 12 points, with Maya Kubancsek and Mia Thomas chipping in 11 points each.

The Cardinals will look to keep their perfect record intact on Monday, January 13, when they travel to face the Massillon-Washington Tigers (8-5) at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Howland (5-7, 1-2 AAC) aims to bounce back when they host the Austintown-Fitch Falcons (6-7, 0-3 AAC) on Wednesday, January 15.
