CARDINALS CONTINUE TO SHINE SHUTTING OUT CHARDON

Canfield defeated Chardon 3-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Ryan Petro induced a groundout to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Cardinal’s pitchers struck out 13, while Chardon pitchers sat down seven.

Canfield got things started in the second inning. Gianni Gaetano drove in one when Gaetano singled.

One bright spot for Chardon was a single by McDevitt in the sixth inning.

Landon Beidelchies led the Cardinals to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 11. Petro threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Petro recorded the last four outs to earn the save.

Tyminski started the game for Chardon. The hurler lasted three innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out five.

Canfield tallied seven hits in the game. Gaetano and Petro all had multiple hits. Gaetano led the Cardinals with three hits in three at bats.
