CARDINALS CREATE PROBLEMS FOR SPRINGFIELD

Springfield watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-3 loss to Cardinal Mooney on Saturday. Cardinal Mooney scored on a single by Ian Francis and a single by Mickey Valesquez in the first inning.

The Cardinals fired up the offense in the first inning, when Francis singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Bronson Ferencak led the Cardinal Mooney to victory on the hill. The bulldog allowed two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two. Ethan Shaw threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Adam Kawecki took the loss for the Tigers. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Vinny Woods, Alex Rothwell, Ryan Matey, and Sean Gardner each collected one hit to lead Springfield.

Cardinal Mooney totaled nine hits in the game. Matt Womer and Zach Hyrb all managed multiple hits.
