CARDINALS NOT BOTHERED BY BUSY WEEKEND

Three games in two days was not a problem for the Canfield girls lacrosse team.

The Cards were away at Laurel Friday night and came away with a 15-3 win. The team had a quick turn around and played Western Reserve Academy and Notre Dame Cathedral Latin Saturday at Hawken. While battling the elements and exhaustion the Cards beat WRA 12-10 and Notre Dame Cathedral Latin 6-5.

Offensively, over the three games, the Cards were led by Karley Gerst who had ten goals and an assist. Ashlyn Elford added seven goals, Ashleigh Haas had six goals and three assists, Radhika Uppal had five goals and an assist, Olivia Hunter added four goals while Abby Crowe rounded out the scoring and had a goal.

Defensively, the cards stepped up their defense and held the other teams to limited shots on goal. Maddie Accordino led the defense with eight ground balls and five interceptions. Josie Sipe had five ground balls and four interceptions, Victoria Levonyak had four ground balls and one interception, and Mia Gaffney had three ground balls and one interception. Mady Hecker in goal saved thirty shots on goal.

The Cardinals improve to 9-2 after the long weekend.
