CARDINALS SIZE UP SPRINGFIELD

Springfield watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-4 loss to Canfield on Friday. Canfield scored on a triple by Dom Magliocca and an error in the first inning.

The Tigers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Canfield, giving up 15 runs.

Canfield got on the board in the first inning. Magliocca drove in one when he tripled.

Canfield scored eight runs in the third inning. Their big inning was driven by singles by AJ Havrilla, Landon Beidelschies, and Drew Carrocce, a triple by Chris Sammarone, and a double by Nate Shaw.

Jake Grdic was on the pitcher’s mound for Canfield. Grdic lasted two innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out one and walking zero.

Braden Butler started the game for Springfield. The pitcher surrendered six runs on six hits over two innings. Kolten Ruark and Alex Rothwell entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

The Tigers collected ten hits on the day. Sean Gardner, Mitchell Seymour, and Ethan Mannion all managed multiple hits. Mannion, Seymour, and Gardner all had two hits to lead.

The Cardinals had 13 hits in the game. Magliocca, Havrilla, Shaw, and Ben Slanker each racked up multiple hits.
