CARDS DECK THE SPARTANS

BOARDMAN OH- Canfield defeated Boardman 9-3 on Tuesday thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. Canfield put the pressure on, lead by a single by Scottie Eaton, a home run by Ben Slanker, and an error on a ball put in play by Ethan Prout.

Canfield got on the board in the second inning. AJ Havrilla singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

The Cardinals put up seven runs in the fifth inning. Prout, Eaton, and Slanker powered the big inning with RBIs.

Jameson Beck earned the victory on the hill for Canfield. Beck went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out four. Stephen Maszczak threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Gavin Hyde led things off on the mound for Boardman. Hyde went four innings, allowing six runs on ten hits and striking out three. Dustin Cass and Kevin Pekkamen entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

The Cardinals smacked one home run on the day. Slanker had a four bagger in the fifth inning.

Canfield racked up 13 hits in the game. Havrilla, Slanker, and Logan Cayavec each collected multiple hits. Slanker and Havrilla each collected three hits to lead the way.

Caleb Satterfield went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Boardman in hits.
