A2Z AND ROTH BATTLE TO TIE

STRUTHERS, OH- In a back and forth effort from both teams, we encountered our first time-limit draw on Wednesday evening between A2Z and Roth Brothers at the 14U level.  The game ended after the fifth inning with the score 6-6.

Roth Brothers fired up the offense in the first inning. Luke Gehring drew a walk with the bases juiced, scoring one run.  In the top of the fifth inning, Roth Brothers felt deja vu when they tied things up at six. PJ Scott drew a walk, scoring one run.  Gabe Saunders would walk 3 times in the game and collect a stolen base, while CJ Frasco and Andrew Kali each scored twice.

Johnny Cambert led the way for Roth on the bump with a pair of strikeouts and a pair of walks in three innings pitched while giving up 6 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits.

A2Z  tallied five runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by was led by Braden AdamsChris DenneyMatt Boccieri, and Blake Jeffries, all driving in runs in the inning.

Aiden Thompson and Joe Aey threw in relief of Braden Adams.  The trio combined for 8 strikeouts, and nine walks while scattering two hits throughout the game.

LATE OFFENSE PUSHES AVALANCHE BY EAGLEWEAR

STRUTHERS OH-

Avalanche‘s 14U team snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-4 victory over Eaglewear on Wednesday.  The game was tied at four with the Avalanche  batting in the top of the fourth when Santino Piccirilli doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

The Avalanche got things moving in the first inning, when Mark Cattron singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Eaglewear knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the second inning, when Alex Zordich drew a walk, scoring one run.

Hunter Stelter was credited with the victory for Avalanche. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.  Zach Livosky and Zac Lanschak entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Dom  Ratkovich took the loss for Eaglewear He lasted two innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out two and walking one.

 William Moore started the game for the Avalanche. He allowed two hits and two runs, walking one

The Avalanche totaled 13 hits.  Derek Douglas, Cattron, Piccirilli, and Lanschak each collected multiple hits for Youngstown Class B  Avalanche  14u.  Lanschak, Piccirilli, Cattron, and Douglas each collected two hits to lead them.

CREEKSIDE SHUTS DOWN CSA

STRUTHERS OH-

Tyson Tarajack threw a shutout to lead  Creekside past Youngstown Complete Sports Academy 12-0 on Wednesday.

 Creekside secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the first inning.    Creekside’s big bats were led by Tj Richey, Michael Patellis, Ryan Carpenter, Aaron Doughty, Tarajack, and  Tyler Mikulin, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

In the first inning,   Creekside got their offense started when Richey drew a walk, scoring one run.

A single by Carson Fuller in the first inning was a positive for CSA.

Tarajack was the winning pitcher for   Creekside. He surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out 13.

Isaiah Torres took the loss for CSA. He allowed zero hits and six runs over one-third of an inning.

Creekside hit one home run on the day. Alex Stowe put one out in the fifth inning.

Brady Loew, Stowe, Richey, Doughty, and Jacob Werner each collected one hit to lead   Creekside.

14U ASTRO FALCONS FLEX ON OPENING DAY

STRUTHERS, OH- As the gates opened on the 25th year of Bob Cene Park, the founding organization showed their tradition of winning ways.

Astro had everything working on Sunday, winning big over Ballistic Baseball 11-1 in 5 innings.  Ballistic opened up scoring in the first inning, when Ryan Conti singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.  Conti also went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ballisitc Baseball in hits.

Drew Kaschak calmed down to pitch Astro to victory. He went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking zero. Dylan Barrett threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Dom Elia was on the hill for Ballistic. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out two. Ryan Conti threw one-third of an inning in relief.

The Astro Falcons tallied 12 hits.  Jake SchneiderNick LewisRyan DiLullo, and Bo Fornataro all collected multiple hits for the Orange and Blue. Lewis and Schneider all had three hits to lead all hitters.
