KNIGHTLINE WALKS IT OFF AGAINST ATHLETIX

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline found themselves trailing 4-3 heading into their final at bats on Sunday against Athletix.  They scored 2 runs Yo walk off into the night with victory 5-4.

Aiden Thompson owned the top of the lineup going 2-4 on the day with a RBI and a run scored.  Tyler Rarrick also grabbed a RBI for Knightline going 1-2 with a walk.  Andrew Brown was able to finish with multiple hits going 2-4.

Freddy Bolchalk went and got the win for Knightline on the rubber. He went 4.1 IP and gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits. He struck out 7 as well.

The Athletix offense was led by Tyler Wardle going 2-3 with a pair of RBI.  Brendan Ray also finished with multiple hits going 2-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Konnor Brogan hit in a RBI going 1-3 with a walk.

Ray pitched well despite the loss. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 8 hits.  He struck out 7 and stayed away from any walks.

WHITING FIRMLY GRASPS FIRST PLACE

STRUTHERS OH- All summer in the Class B alibi Division of 16U, Creekside Fitness has been biting at the ankles of top ranked Whiting Roll-Offs.  However, on Sunday it was Whiting that kept Creekside at bay and stormed to a 8-2 win.

Nathan Craig managed a masterful offensive day going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and a RBI.  Corbin Sevcik used the most of a 1-4 day with a RBI along the way.  Kallen Durbin also went 1-4 on the day with a RBI and also managed to score a run.  Aidan Leiendecker had multiple hits going 2-4.

Craig took the win for Whiting has he hurled 6 innings and gave up 0 earned runs on 2 hits.  He struck out 9.

Tyson Tarajack did all he could on the offensive side for Creekside, he went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.  Brady Miller managed to put together a 1-3 day.

FALCONS TAKE TOP SPOT IN HERNANDEZ DIVISION

STRUTHERS, OH- The Astro Falcons and Dura Edge battled for the top seed in the 16U Hernandez division on Saturday afternoon. Dura Edge carried a slim lead the entire way, until the Falcons put a rally together in the sixth inning to take the lead and win the ballgame.

Dura Edge took advantage of 2 walks in the first inning, scoring both runners off an RBI single by Ethan Feezle, followed by an RBI double by Mathew Boccieri. The Astro Falcons came back to score 1 run in the bottom of the second inning to make it 2-1. Dura Edge had the lead all the way up to the sixth inning, where the Falcons put up a 3 spot to take the lead. Anthony Triveri tied the ballgame with an RBI single, followed by back-to-back RBI singles by Bo Fornataro and Sam Castronova to take a 4-2 lead. Relief pitcher Dom Cubellis sealed the deal in the seventh inning, to pick up his first victory of the season.

The Falcons improve to 7-4 on the campaign, and slide into first place in the Hernandez Division. Astro returns to action on Sunday against the Prospects at 11:30 A.M. DURA EDGE GETS THE LAST LAUGH

STRUTHERS OH- It was a barn burner on Thursday night in Class B 16U action as Dura Edge and Knightline traded blows left and right. With both offenses humming, it was Dura Edge that got the edge with a 11-10 win.

Ethan Feezle was tough to stop for Knightline pitching. He went 3-4 on the day and got in 3 RBI.   Carson Bish also collected multiple hits going 2-3 with 3 RBI.  Ethan Adam’s was productive going 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Angelo Fachet also went 1-3, he scored two runs, walked, and collected a RBI.

Knightline’s offense was just as impressive despite falling short.  Freddy Bolchalk had multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Tyler Rarrick was right there with him going 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Knightline drew 7 walks as a team. Ross Harris walked twice and gathered a RBI.

ANDREW SABELLA COACH’S CORNER EPISODE 1

STRUTHERS, OH- Andrew Sabella is the head coach for the 16U Astro Falcons in the Youngstown Class B League. Sabella also is a part of the staff as an assistant for the Canfield Cardinals baseball team. Sabella sat down to talk about his 16U Astro Falcons team, his head coaching duties, and managing a heavy workload in his young career.

The 16U Astro Falcons currently sit in first place in the Hernandez Division at 6-4. Sabella talks about the development of his players and the goals for the program. Catch the full interview with Andrew Sabella down below.

PROSPECTS BLANK EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS-OH, The Prospects snapped a 2 game losing skid last night in a win over Eagle Wear in the Youngstown Class B Baseball League. The Prospects had the first advantage, and they kept that lead the entire way.

The Prospects struck first in the second inning on an RBI single by the left-fielder Dylan McCune. In the third inning, the Prospects took advantage of multiple Eagle Wear errors to plate 2 more runners. in the fourth frame, lead-off hitter Owen Boone roped a double in left center to score Nate Goldner, extending the lead to 4-0. The Prospects scored one more run in the sixth inning, and won the ballgame 5-0. Anthony Marimpietri picked up his first victory of the season, tossing 6 shutout innings, while striking out 7 Eagle Wear batters. The Prospects are now 4-8 on the campaign, and take on the Astro Falcons Sunday morning. Eagle Wear is still searching for its first win, taking on top seed Whiting tomorrow morning.

CREEKSIDE TAKES BIG STEP IN STANDINGS

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside and Avalanche both came into Thursday night’s 16U matchup vying for the second place. Creekside took home the big 10-6 win and separated themselves in the spot directly behind Whiting Roll-Offs.

Creekside brought a bunch of offense to the table.  Jackson Cheers took the reigns going 2-4 with 3 RBI.  He also scored a run.  Tyler Mikulin also collected multiple hits going 2-3 scoring 3 runs. He knocked in a pair of RBI and drew a walk.  Mike Bartoe was not to be outdone. He went 2-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.

Mason Petrids took the win on the bump for Creekside.  He went 4 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 6 hits.  He managed to collect 5 strikeouts.

Avalanche’s offense was led by Santino Piccirilli who went 2-3 with a RBI.  Noah Philson went 2-3 as well and scored 2 runs.  Nick Solderich went 1-3 for the offense and scored a run. He struck in a RBI as well.

 

AVALANCHE EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO 6

STRUTHERS, OH – The Avalanche 16U Youngstown Class B Baseball team is red hot in the month of June. The Avalanche looked to extend their winning streak to 6 games against Ballistic. The Avalanche took a dominant lead in the first four innings, and held on to a last inning comeback in the seventh.

Avalanche came out of the gates swinging, with back to back doubles from starting pitcher Noah Philson, and second-baseman Andrew Gault. Both guys scored and it was a quick 2-0 Avalanche lead after the first inning. The Avalanche scored a run in the third inning, followed by 2 more runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Santino Piccirilli led off with a triple into left center, with EH Aiden Bowser bringing him home with a sacrifice fly. The Avalanche had a controlling 9-0 lead heading into the last inning, but Ballistic didn’t quit scoring 4 runs in the seventh. Avalanche would keep Ballistic at bay, winning the ballgame 9-4.

Noah Philson was spectacular on the mound for Avalanche, recording 5 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 8 batters. Avalanche has now won 6 games in a row to improve to 9-2 on the season, extending their win streak to 6 games in a row. Ballistic is now 4-6 on the campaign. Both teams return to action on Thursday night at Bob Cene Park, you can catch both games on YSN.

DURA EDGE OUT GUNS PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- It was a high scoring affair on Tuesday night as Dura Edge and Prospects both brought the big bats. It was Dura Edge though that had the bigger cannons and they bashed their way to a 12-7 win.

There were plenty of bright spots on offense for Dura Edge. One of the largest ones was Caleb Satterfield who went 2-4 with a run scored and a pair of RBI.  Mathew Boccieri also grabbed multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Paul Gubba went 2-4 as well. He scored a run, and knocked in a RBI.  Nathan McGahagan was another hitter with multiple hits going 2-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Braden Adams pitched 3 innings for Dura Edge and gave up 5 runs on 2 hits.  He struck out a hitter.

Coby Airwyke put together a great day at the plate for Prospects going 1-3 with a pair of runs knocked in.  Dylan Simpson walked 3 times and gathered a RBI.  Owen Boone collected multiple hits going 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

FALCONS PITCHING STUMPS KNIGHTLINE

STRUTHERS OH- After some time off, Class B 16U action got kicked back into gear on Tuesday night. Astro Falcons got back to business by shutting out Knightline 4-0.

Jake Schneider collected multiple hits for the Falcons going 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Drew Kaschak had the same numbers going 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Sam Castronova got into the RBI party going 1-3 and knocking in a run.

Kaschak pitched a gem on the mound to go along with his impressive day at the plate. He threw the complete game and gave up 0 runs on 4 hits.  He struck out 4 hitters as well.

Aiden Thompson went 1-3 for Knightline to give them a positive note on offense.  Dominic Ryan also went 1-3.  Aidan O’Rourke went 1-2 on the day.

John Darnley put together a good performance on the mound despite taking the loss. He went 5 innings and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 3 batters.
