URSULINE BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 3) WITH PAUL KEMPE

YOUNGSTOWN OH- The Ursuline Fighting Irish have been a team that has one thriller of a roller coaster season. Having more high spots than low, Ursuline has so far compiled a 15-8 record to this point of the season.  Including big wins over Division 1 opponents, hitting tanks over the wall, and so many highlights through the pitching staff.

Having five different pitchers have a season Earned Run Average (ERA) under 3.  Being an Ursuline graduate made it easier for Head Coach Paul Kempe to step in and fill the role of pushing tradition, character, and respect of the game. All foundations that have built Ursuline’s program. Beating Waterloo in The Sectional FInal by a score of 8-4, has put The Irish just two wins away from capturing a district crown.

Next on the docket? A high quality Middlefield Cardinal team with a 12-8 record on the year. Catch this edition of Coaches Corner, where Anthony and Ty catch up with Coach Kempe on the season, all while looking ahead at tournament aspirations. GARFIELD BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MIKE PAES

GARRETTSVILLE OH- To say the Garrettsville Garfield Baseball had rode the roller coaster in the beginning of the season. Experiencing back-to-back conference wins, highlighted by a no-hitter, capped off by massive run production that led Garfield to two consecutive wins over Liberty.  Garfield also experienced their lows, with consecutive losses by a Champion team that was there to let some frustrations loose.

However, like Garfield always does, they find ways to bounce back and do it with force! Handing Crestview their first loss of the season, and only conference loss on the year, back on April 26th. Competing in The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC) Gray tier has sharpened The G-Men’s teeth

Garrettsville has a firm grip on the conference mountain as far as standings are concerned. Question is, who will be the first to the top? Do not miss this edition of Coaches Corner with Garrettsville Garfield’s Head Coach, Michael Paes.

CHANEY BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH ERIC GRUBER

YOUNGSTOWN OH-  Work hard. Be prepared. Earn everything. These are the principles that define Chaney High School and Youngstown’s West Side. For Head Coach Eric Gruber, these three aspects of not only the game, but of life, have more than exemplified the adversity that this baseball season has brought.

Having only a handful of games under their belt, both the coaching staff as well as the players are continuing to work through the cancellations with the tournament rapidly approaching.  Working Hard with many days of added practice, The Cowboys have always known how to put their head down and grind.

Be prepared for a sport that has showcased no game is guaranteed, but you need to be ready when that bell rings. Chaney stays ready! Earn everything because nothing is given. Perhaps the tagline for all of Northeastern Ohio, but does any team represent that as much as Chaney? One this is certain, The Cowboys intend on earning everyone’s respect back. One sport at a time.

JACKSON MILTON SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MARIAH CICCOLELLI

NORTH JACKSON OH- Every team has had to dodge the crazy weather that the month of April brought to Northeast Ohio. Jackson Milton has had to navigate more than most. With multiple long pauses to the season, it’s easy to think frustration would start to loom inside the Blue Jays program. However, the seniors set the tone and kept everyone focused. And now that the Blue Jays have come out of the rain and found consistent games, they have gotten on some kind of hot streak. They took the week with a season sweep of Mineral Ridge and Waterloo. Their offense has lit up, and their pitching has always been strong. Teams better not sleep on Jackson Milton because they’re catching fire at the right time.

Head coach Mariah Ciccolelli was able to talk to the boys on Running Point about her program. She talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about navigating the crazy weather, the personality of her team shining through the clouds, and much more.
