BRAVES CLAIM TOP SPOT IN LOCAL TRI MATCH

COLUMBIANA OH- The Badger Braves were up for a challenge as they traveled to Columbiana for a tri match on Wednesday. The Braves swept the competition posting a low score of 142 defeating Columbiana and McDonald at Valley.

Badger was led by Austin Mariani, Hudson Rice and Ian Tricker all shooting a low round 34. Columbiana carded a team score of 162 as Rocco Crawford and Anthony Hall each posted 37. McDonald totaled 173 and was led by Chris Ragozzine’s 43.

LABRAE SHOOTS FOR MVAC WIN

LEAVITTSBURG OH- The Labrae Vikings took to the links Wednesday looking for an early MVAC statement. That statement was served as the Vikings came away with a 164-177 victory over Crestview at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Austin Rowe led the way, carding a 35 for Labrae.  Luke Requardt posted a 41 and Peyton Conkle contriburted a 44 for the Rebels.

Both teams return to action Thursday as Crestview travels to Liberty, Labrae is scheduled to host Garfield.

QUAKERS KEEP UP HOT START

SALEM OH- The Salem golf team continued their hot start to the season as Quakers defeated Minerva 182-195 Wednesday at Great Trails.

Anthony Colian led the way posting a 44, while teammate Scott Colian was just one shot off with a 45. Sam Bricker contributed a 46 and fellow Quaker Tanner James rounded out the scoring with a 49. Minerva was led by Reid Spall’s 46.

CLIPPERS SWING TO VICTORY

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana continued their winning ways early in the 2023 season as the Clippers defeated Pymatuning Valley 196-231 Tuesday at Valley Golf Club.

Maddie Jackson and Sophia Perry led the charge each posting a 47. Claire Banner 50 and Emma Gazzinigga 52 rounded out the scorecard for the Clippers.

Pymatuning Valley was led by Emily Blanford who carded a 54. Columbiana is back in action today as they host Poland.

ZINES RECORD BREAKING START PACES UNITED

LISBON OH- United’s Mati Zines is starting her senior campaign off in style as she set a new school record to lead United to a 184-211 victory over Edison Tuesday night at Twin Springs Golf Course.

Fresh off of her 11th place finish at the DII State Golf Tournament, Zines carded a school record 31 to lead the Golden Eagles. The individual score record was not the only mark set as United’s Emma Murphy 44, Olivia Ashburn 48, Abigail Jones 61 and  Alaiana Brewer 62 all contributed to setting the new school record team score of 184.

Edison was led by Katie Phillips 45 and Bella Evans 47. United is back in action today as they host Minerva.

BEAVER LOCAL SINKS FIRST SHOT OF THE SEASON

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The Beaver Local Boys Golf team began the fall sports season on the right side of things defeating the Crestview Rebels 170-173.

The Beavers were paced by Owen Hill and Britton Hickmanwith 41, 41. Andre Wiegand and Cole Jarvis each chipped scores of 44, while Mikey Druschel and Nick McKenzie each contrinuted scores of 48 and 56 respectively. The Rebels were led by low medalist of the round Luke Requardt with a 38, while teammate Rod McCune carded a 41.

MOONEY GOLFERS LAND POSTSEASON HONORS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Cardinal Mooney Golf Team just closed an exciting season in 2022, and now the loot is rolling in for their success.

Rocco Turner was named First Team All-Ohio and recognized as State Champion for his efforts.

Alex Eckstein, and Dante Turner were named 1st Team All-NEO.

Tim Reardon and Joe Zeno were named to the All-NEO Honorable Mention team together.

Freshman Katie Pregibon was named to the 2nd Team All-NEO, alongside Sarah Owens who was chosen as Honorable Mention All-NEO.

Congratulations to the Cardinals on a fantastic season on the links.

TURNER BRINGS HOME FIRST PLACE FINISH AT STATE

COLUMBUS OH- It was a great day for Cardinal Mooney golf as they added a State Champion to their ranks. Rocco Turner shot a two round total a 145 to claim the crown. His Round 1 total was a 74, and he improved his score by three strokes in Round 2 to submit a 71.  Dante Turner was next best on Mooney with a total of 176.  Alex Eckstein was also sub 200 shooting a 183 at state.  Tim Reardon, and Joe Zeno rounded out the scores shooting a 219 and a 254 respectively.

Everyone at YSN would like to congratulate the entire Mooney golf team on a fantastic season.  We look forward to more success come next fall.

ESNLEY’S IMPRESSIVE FRESHMAN SEASON ENDS IN DISTRICT

ALLIANCE OH- Congratulations to Freshman Jackson Ensley on a great season.  Jackson finished his freshman season as a 1st Team All MVAC selection and was the Medalist at the MVAC Golf Tournament.  Jackson shot an 88 in the District Tournament held yesterday at Tannenhauf Golf Course.
