The Irish advance to the district tournament on Thursday at Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartsville. Columbiana, West Branch, and Champion will join them out of the sectional.

WEST BRANCH GIRLS DO ENOUGH TO ADVANCE TO DISTRICTS

HUBBARD OH- The West Branch girls golf team made the trip to Hubbard on Wednesday to compete in sectionals. The Warriors were able to finish third, and that was enough to advance to districts as a team. The final team score was 421.

VANHORN HELPS JFK GET ON THE MAP

WARREN OH- Warren JFK gets a lot of attention during the fall sports season. Although most of that attention usually falls to their football team that is state championship caliber.  However, no matter the sport, success brings eyes upon you. For the Eagles golf program they have found a bunch of success in 2022. One of the big reasons for that is their leader Bryce Vanhorn.  Vanhorn is statistically one of the best golfers in Trumbull county. One thing is for sure, he didn’t wake up and grab a club and all of sudden swing with precision.  Bryce works harder than just about anyone at his craft. With golf, that is so important. You’ll never be great if you don’t take it upon yourself to get better on your own. Bryce has never been shy to work hard. Now this season, he is being rewarded for his hard work with huge results.

Bryce took the time to come on to YSN’s Running Point and talk to Anthony Hartwig and DJ Yokley to talk about his season.  They also talk about what makes JFK such a special place, what his favorite thing about the sport of golf is, and much more. Take a swing with us and check out the latest Warren JFK Golf Player Profile only on YSN.

URSULINE GOLF DOMINATES THE GREENS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The 2022 Ursuline Irish Girls Golf squad brings a lot of senior leadership to the Fall season, and Serena Grenga and Maddie Rauzan have been there every step of the way to help the Irish provide good scores as a team. Grenga and Rauzan, alongside their teammates, were able to help Ursuline capture the 2022 Terlesky Invitational. Serena and Maddie have played a pivotal role in each event this year, as they have been big performers for the Irish on the course throughout their time playing. Ursuline has won multiple events this year, and you can give a lot of credit to the experience of this year’s squad.

Thornton, the only senior on this year’s squad, has placed close to the top for the Irish in many events this season, including a round of 41 vs. Struthers on Senior Night. Keegan has shown the patience that it takes to truly be a good golfer, and he has also put in the time that is needed when you are trying to perfect your craft.

In this week’s Player Profile, Keegan was able to talk about his senior season, what it takes to be good at the sport of golf, how to overcome struggles on the course, and more!
