CHADWICK’S GEM LIFTS LAKEVIEW

GENEVA OH- Ella Chadwick threw a gem on Monday for Lakeview, allowing zero runs and besting Geneva by a score of 10-0

Lakeview fired up the offense in the first inning, when Maggie Pavlansky singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for Geneva was a single by Carmen Alverez in the first inning.

Chadwick was in the circle for the Bulldogs. The righty went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out six and walking one.

Annabelle Bragg toed the rubber for Geneva. She surrendered ten runs on 12 hits over four innings, striking out three. Irelyn Mongell threw one inning out of the bullpen.

Lakeview racked up 13 hits in the game. Pavlansky, Makenna Werner, and Isabella Isenberg each collected multiple hits. Pavlansky led the way with three hits in three at bats.

The Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mack Stowe had the most chances in the field with six.

Lakeview will get back to it on Tuesday as they host Chalker. Start time for that matchup is 5:00.

POLAND MAKES THE LONG TRIP WORTH IT

JEFFERSON OH –  Poland Seminary Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-1 on the season with a 6-0 defeat of Northeast 8 rival Jefferson Falcons.  The Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-0 in conference play.  Katie McDonald picked-up her 7th win of the season fanning 7 batters and scattering 4 hits over seven innings for the shutout.

Poland’s offense was led by junior shortstop Mary Brant who went 2-2 with a triple and an RBI.  Freshman catcher Leanna Boccieri added two hits including a double and an RBI.  Katie McDonald also doubled to help her cause on the mound.
For Jefferson Sammie Speakman collected the loss on the mound scattering 10 hits and 7 strikeouts over seven innings.  Allison Hill hit a double to lead the Falcon’s offense.
The two conference foes battle tomorrow at 5pm at Poland Seminary’s new softball complex.

FITCH BRINGS THEIR TALENTS DOWN SOUTH

MYRTLE BEACH SC- An 8:00am first pitch on a Monday morning wasn’t enough to disrupt the Fitch softball team’s momentum as they started their week in Myrtle Beach with another blowout win to stay undefeated on the season.

The Lady Falcons beat Anderson County (KY) 11-0 on the strength of 15 strikeouts, a home run, and three RBIs by Sydnie Watts. She and catcher McKenna Hogan combined for the shutout win and gave up just one hit. To go along with Watts’ impressive performance on both sides of the ball, Fitch had five other players add RBIs including Hogan, Morgan Roby, Samantha Severn, Ashlee McClean, and Abby Toth. Lily Stevens got on the books with a single.

In all, the Lady Falcons racked up 15 hits and improved to 7-0 in the process. They’ll take on Bamber-Ehrhardt (SC) tomorrow at 10:00am.

O’BRIEN CONTINUES TO IMPRESS

NORTH JACKSON OH- Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but McDonald and their ace Bella O’Brien were just a little bit stronger in a 3-0 victory over Jackson-Milton. Macayle Thornhill started the game for Jackson-Milton and went the distance as well.

O’Brien controlled the tempo in the pitcher’s circle for McDonald. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 12. That one hit for Jackson Milton was a ball hit hard by Thornhill to left field over the head of the fielder for a triple. O’Brien would bounce right back though and strike out Grace Johns to end the inning.  No other damage would be done to her line.

Thornhill was in the circle for Jackson Milton. She pitched well despite the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Miley Titus went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead McDonald’s offense. She knocked in a pair of RBI and scored a run.  Alivia Morrison also went 2-4 in the game with a RBI.

Jackson Milton and McDonald will conclude their series tomorrow in McDonald at Woodland Park. First pitch is set up for 5:00.

MCCALLA SHINES IN A NO HIT PERFORMANCE

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Haleigh McCalla was brilliant in the circle on Monday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead Springfield past Waterloo 13-0.

Springfield secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning. McCalla, Emily Gerthung, Gabbie Nalevanko, Hannah Leipply, Olivia Allen, and Gianna Piccuta all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

The Tigers fired up the offense in the first inning. Jacey Mullen drove in two when she doubled.

McCalla got the win for Springfield. The ace allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 11.

The Tigers tallied 15 hits on the day. Mullen, Allen, McCalla, Gerthung, and Leipply all managed multiple hits. Mullen went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits. Springfield was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Rachel Malatok had the most chances in the field with 11.

LIVELY LEAVES WELLSVILLE HITLESS

LISBON, OHIO – A no-hitter requires a certain level of intensity and laser focus in the pitcher’s circle. Morgan Lively did just that on the mound Monday night as she no-hit Wellsville on Lisbon’s way to an 11-0 win.

In a dominant performance in the circle, Lively struck out 13 batters and only walked three. As an added bonus, Lively brought a hot bat with her to the field as she went 3-for-3 at the dish, an all around brilliant performance for the Lisbon star.

The Lisbon offense was equally as good as they spread the ball all over the diamond with Kyrstin Reckner, Kamryn Peruchetti, Emma Everett, Ellie Bibbed, and Lively all driving in runs.

Coming up on Wednesday, Wellsville will have a chance to respond at home against Lisbon and Lisbon will look to keep their winning ways going. First pitch is at 5:00 p.m.

BROOKFIELD SHOWS NO SIGNS OF SLOWING DOWN

COLUMBIANA, OHIO- Miranda Nicholson had all the right stuff on Monday for Brookfield, allowing zero runs as the Warriors bested Crestview by a score of 11-0.

Abby DeJoy led the Warriors to victory by driving in five runs. DeJoy went 3-for-4 at the plate as she drove in runs on a single in the first, a home run in the fourth, and a double in the sixth.

Brookfield went off at the end of the game when they scored five runs in the sixth inning. Brookfield’s big bats were led by Katie Logan, DeJoy, Arianna Jones, and Cadence Huffman, all knocking in runs in the inning.

One bright spot for Crestview was a single by Brooke Brubaker in the second inning.

Nicholson earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Warriors. The fireballer surrendered zero runs on one hit over six innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Brubaker led things off on the rubber for Crestview. She surrendered 11 runs on 13 hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Brookfield racked up 13 hits in the game.  DeJoy, Sophia Hook, Katie Gibson, and Jones all collected multiple hits. Hook and DeJoy all had three hits to lead Brookfield. 

The series will conclude on Tuesday night when the two teams meet again in Brookfield.  First pitch is slated for 5:00.

GRADISHAR NOTCHES HER THIRD NO HITTER

GARRETTSVILLE OH- With both teams being undefeated in the MVAC coming in to Monday, the matchup between Champion and Garfield was going to be an important one.  The G-Men got off to a good start on defense as they quickly got 2 outs on the board against some of the Flashes’ best hitters.  The positive vibes for Garfield quickly vanished though as Champion strung together four straight 2 pit hits to jump on top 3-0.  It was all purple and gold after that as Gabby Gradishar completely shut down the G_Men offense, and the Flashes kept adding runs little by little en route to a 11-0 win.

Gradishar is taking advantage of every opportunity she gets on the field this season. She threw the third no hitter of her campaign, and came dangerously close to a perfect game.  Her final line was 7.0 IP 15 K 0 H 0 ER.

Champion’s offense was led by Abbigail Meadors who knocked in 3 RBI on a 2-4 day.  Addie Warzala put in a solid day at the plate going 3-4 with a RBI and 3 runs scored.  Gradishar had the most hits in the lineup going 4-5 with a RBI and a run scored. Hailey Householder brought production to the bottom half of the lineup as she went 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored.

Champion and Garfield will meet up again on Tuesday as they square up in Champion this time around.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.

LADY RAIDERS HAVING A BLAST AT THE BEACH

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range’s Juli Stachowicz didn’t allow a single run against Bamberg, throwing a complete game shutout and leading South Range to a 18-0 victory on Monday.

South Range got on the board in the first inning when a sacrifice bunt by Jamie Feren scored one run for South Range.

The Lady Raiders notched six runs in the fourth inning. Kelly Szolek, Samantha Susany, Stachowicz, and Solena DeJesus each drove in runs during the inning.

A single by Sophie Jeffcoat in the second inning was positive for Bamberg.

Stachowicz took the win for South Range. The southpaw surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking zero.

Marin Moody took the loss for the Red Raiders. The righty lasted two innings, allowing ten hits and 12 runs while striking out three and walking one.

South Range racked up 13 hits on the day. Stachowicz, Szolek, Keira Brogan, Feren, and Susany each managed multiple hits for South Range. Stachowicz went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits. South Range didn’t commit a single error in the field. Szolek had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

TIGERS AND LAKERS SPLIT WINS

GAME 1:

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield defeated Pymatuning Valley 5-2 on Saturday in game 1 of a double header.

Springfield fired up the offense in the second inning. They scored one run when Madi Lesnak singled.

The Tigers put up three runs in the fifth inning. They scored their runs on a home run by Haleigh McCalla.

McCalla was the winning pitcher for Springfield. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out 13.

Baleigh Alderman was in the circle for Pymatuning Valley. The righthander surrendered five runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Springfield socked one home run on the day. McCalla had a four bagger in the fifth inning.

Emily Gerthung led the Tigers with two hits in three at bats. Springfield didn’t commit a single error in the field. Rachel Malatok had the most chances in the field with 13.

Alderman went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lakers in hits.

GAME 2:

It came down to the last play, but Springfield was on the wrong end of a 7-6 defeat to Pymatuning Valley on Saturday in game 2 of a double header. The game was tied at six with Pymatuning Valley batting in the bottom of the seventh when Macie Payne doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Springfield trailed by five runs in the fourth inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. The Tigers scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Gianna Piccuta in the fifth, a single by Rachel Malatok in the fifth, a fielder’s choice by Emily Gerthung in the fifth, an error in the fifth, a stolen base by Gerthung in the seventh, and a fielder’s choice by Mariah Jones in the seventh.

In the first inning, the Lakers got their offense started when Baleigh Alderman singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Springfield notched four runs in the fifth inning. Piccuta, Malatok, Gerthung, and Gabbie Nalevanko all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Pymatuning Valley scored three runs in the second inning. Their big bats were led by Nataleigh Haines, Rieane Zajac, and Alderman, all driving in runs in the frame.

Saige Payne was in the circle for the Lakers. The pitcher allowed nine hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Madi Lesnak was in the pitcher’s circle for Springfield. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on six hits over six and a third innings, striking out two.

The Tigers totaled nine hits in the game. Lesnak, Jacey Mullen, and Gerthung each racked up multiple hits. Gerthung, Mullen, and Lesnak each collected two hits to lead the offense.

Pymatuning Valley scattered six hits in the game. Alderman and Zajac all managed multiple hits on the day.
