HILAND KNOCKS OFF BOARDMAN IN A DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE

BOARDMAN OH- After big first round victories for Boardman and Hiland 10u, both of these talented all stars would meet for the first time this season in which saw a lot of defense action with some hitting.

After quick three and outs with Boardman batting, Hiland got their momentum rolling when Tucker Miller and Caleb Turner scored two runs off a single at bat making it two runs to nothing early.

However, that would be the only runs scored for now as most of the day saw it being a pitching match between Dom Italiano and Boaz Yoder. After a scoreless inning, Hiland got the ball rolling again with another Turner run and Sampson Miller getting his first run of the day.

The Spartans wouldn’t go away however, showing off that Mahoning County strength, they would get their first run during the top of the fourth with Chase Willis going home off of a fast ball steal to home.

Both teams would change pitchers in the last innings. For Boardman, it was Michael Vass and for Hiland it was Tucker Miller. Boardman with that talent had runners on first and second, but in the end they would not prevail as a strikeout ended it with a final of 4-1.

Both teams will get more opportunities with their talented players however. Hiland will move to the third round and play either New Albany or Hamilton while Boardman will play Bellevue or Cuyahoga Falls North in the bottom bracket.
